Business Development Manager

Stitch is a developer-first API startup with a mission to deeply connect financial systems with the wider world. We provide an API which allows third-party apps and websites to interact with their user's bank accounts in ways that unlocks the ability for companies across Africa to build innovative technology products quickly.

Creating innovative financial products is incredibly difficult today, and we believe that unlocking the way people interact with their finances starts with enabling developers with the tools and infrastructure needed to execute on their vision.

We are looking for a Business Development Representative to support and complement our growing sales team led by our Head of Business Development.

On a day-to-day basis, your role will range from sourcing customer leads, facilitating initial conversations, and closing deals with key customers in our pipeline. As an integral member of our Sales team, you’ll be responsible for creating excitement about Stitch - our customers come first at Stitch and you'll represent their perspective and fulfill their needs at the coalface.

Our ideal candidate is highly motivated to succeed both individually and with a young and fast-growing startup. They have very strong communication skills, with buckets of enthusiasm for the African fintech space.

Responsibilities

  • Manage & maintain outbound and inbound sales channels
  • Establish active communication and engagement with prospects to create new leads and sales openings
  • Support the Head of Business Development in closing deals
  • Research target companies, identify key decision-makers, and prepare sales pitches before and after calls
  • Update, analyse, and facilitate goal-setting for our sales pipeline using our internal CRM
  • Suggest actions to improve sales performance and identify opportunities for growth
  • Understand our customers' needs to help them achieve their business goals using Stitch

Requirements

  • 3+ years proven work experience in a sales or business development role
  • Great communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to understand & explain Stitch APIs and interact with both highly technical and business savvy B2B customers
  • Experience with CRM software (e.g. PipeDrive)

Advantageous

  • Strong network and content knowledge in the local Fintech or Banking space
  • Interest in Open Banking
  • Experience working in B2B SaaS, API or Payments companies
  • Strong knowledge of customers and customer needs in various key markets - including South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana
