GCP Cloud Engineer
As a GCP Cloud Engineer, you will provide excellent technical guidance to customers adopting Google Cloud services. This includes providing best practices on secure foundational cloud implementations, automated provisioning of infrastructure and applications, cloud-ready application architectures, migrations, and more. You will also ensure that customers have an excellent experience in migrating, building, modernizing, and maintaining applications in GCP. This role is within the Rackspace Professional Services organization working on exciting customer-facing projects and delivering technical excellence.Rackspace provides organizations with leading infrastructure, platform capabilities, and industry solutions. What you will be doing
- Collaborate with fellow Rackers and customer key stakeholders to deliver projects, such as implementing Cloud-based technical architectures, executing migrations, and optimizing applications that enable business objectives.
- Serve as a technical advisor and perform troubleshooting to resolve technical challenges for customers.
- Implementing automation/DevOps best practices for CI/CD, IaC, Containerization, etc
- Create automation, whether that is building DevOps pipelines, scripting or creating Infrastructure as Code in Terraform
- Participating in work sessions with clients
- Completing technical documentation
Requirements
- Experience implementing common GCP services (GCE, GKE, GCS, VPC, GCF, Cloud SQL, etc.)
- Knowledgeable in networking and security
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Professional experience with CI/CD deployment
- Working knowledge of Configuration Management frameworks such as Ansible or SaltStack
- Comfortable interacting with customers and able to communicate effectively
- Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell, Go, etc)
- Writing reusable Infrastructure-as-Code (i.e. Terraform)
Nice to Have
- Google Associate Cloud Engineer Certification or other Google Cloud Professional level certification
- 2+ years of experience in customer-facing software/technology or consulting
- 2+ years of experience with “on-premises to cloud” migrations or IT transformations
- 2+ years of experience building, and operating solutions built on GCP (ideally) or AWS/Azure
- Technical degree: Computer Science or related
- Experience with large scale migrations and major migration tools such as RiverMeadows, Velostrata, Zerto, etc
