We are looking for a Junior Accountant to join our team. You’ll gain as much accountability as you can handle and have a massive influence on scaling the company. The successful applicant will be answerable for the accounting and administrative aspects of the business. You will form part of a team to establish and implement control frameworks, system upgrades and enhancements, implement value added reporting, communicate with internal and external stakeholders, and participate in projects.

You are an ideal candidate if you have:

• A relevant qualification – Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting ideally
• A minimum of 1 years’ work experience in similar role
• Strong Excel skills
• Experience working with Xero advantageous
• Experience working within a scale-up/fin-tech environment – advantageous
• A good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
  
  

Your roles and responsibilities:

• Monthly Invoicing
• Bank Reconciliations
• Invoicing
• Sales Commission for Payroll
• Bank Reconciliations (All Bank Accounts)
• Update Fixed Asset Register
• Calculate Depreciation
• Reconcile Creditors and Debtors
• Monthly Payroll
• HR Onboarding, Medical Aid, Group Risk and Payroll
• 15th and 28th Payment Schedules on a monthly basis
• Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
• Update accounts receivable and issue invoices
• Update accounts payable and perform reconciliations
• Assist with reviewing of expenses, payroll records etc. as assigned
• Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed
• Assist senior accountants in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings
• Assist with other accounting projects
• Prepare relevant documentation required and assist auditors with all audit related queries
• Assist with VAT and TAX returns
• Assist in resolving all billing related queries
