iSDA 3-month internship – Digital Marketing

iSDA has developed Virtual Agronomist a new interactive decision tool for the delivery of nutrient management advice building on our recently-launched iSDAsoil: the first open-source farm-level soil map of Africa. We have been testing our products and delivery channels in Kenya and Tanzania, and we are currently expanding into Cote d’Ivoire and Uganda. We are also expanding our offering to broader agronomic advisory to drive year-on-year increases in productivity and profitability for farmers in Africa.

iSDA is looking for an intern for a 3-month position to support the refresh of our website and other digital communications. The intern will be managed by our CTO and Heads of Business Development (East Africa and Southern Africa) and will interact with members of our digital, science and last mile teams.

This internship will be suitable for any candidates with a passion for agriculture, technology and entrepreneurship in Africa. The internship will include an honorarium of USD $1500 per month. iSDA is a remote-first company and the role is 100% remote, with priority given to applicants based in Africa. Opportunities for in-person interaction with our teams on the ground may be possible in Cote d’Ivoire, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.

Duties will likely include:

·         Diversify our digital marketing to new channels: you’ll be involved in the decision on focus areas but this could be content marketing, e-mail or social media

·         Contribute to the development of new sales support documents

Key skills:

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a passion for getting the right message to an audience whatever the channel

·         Ability to translate complex concepts for a general audience, currently primarily agribusinesses and the farmers they serve

·         Experience producing content for websites and social media programs

·         An ability to work as part of a multinational team to produce outward facing communications that integrate points of view from different disciplines

Desirable (but not required):

·         Experience with live action video productions, working with the private sector and/or dealing with the media

·         Interest in contributing to the development of our commercial products and services, including producing sales support materials such as customer case studies

·         An eye on the competitive landscape to help differentiate our offerings from key competitors

·         Understanding of agriculture or agribusiness in Africa

·         Entrepreneurial spirit, French language skills

ISDA delivers individually tailored advice to raise yields, quality and profitability for every smallholder farmer in Africa. Our technology allows aggregators to deliver expert advice to farmers at scale, re-engineering production and investment decisions throughout the value chain. Over time we will build a deeper understanding of each farm, enabling a wider range of advisory, and leading to year-on-year improvements.
