Summary:

We are looking for a passionate, highly motivated thought leader with a strong data engineering background to join the Data & Analytics team as an Analytics Engineer, reporting directly to the Team Lead. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of experience in building data solutions to democratize data across large organizations. You will be managing incoming modeling requests, building pipelines, assisting in large scale third-party implementations, playing a key role in building and automating data pipelines, and building analytics dashboards.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Work with business stakeholders from the Valenture team to understand problems and data sources, and play the pivotal role of architecting data models to address needs
• Gather requirements, build roadmaps, and write great documentation for data sources that need to be modeled
• Build ELT jobs based on jointly defined requirements to extract data from various cloud services, including but not limited to: Canvas Learning Management System, Salesforce CRM solution and finance systems
• Develop and maintain data models in our Data Warehouse
• Generating and distributing reports to various Valenture stakeholders
• Support bug fixing and performance analysis along the data pipeline, including writing tests
• Be a strong advocate for a culture of process and data quality across development teams
• Automate existing reports and work with stakeholders to streamline reporting/analyses
• Providing data-based technical support to the business
• Develop and implement reporting dashboards allowing stakeholders at various levels to get real-time insight into key metrics

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Applied Mathematics
• At least two (2) years of relevant experience in a data role working with data warehouses and business intelligence tools
• Strong SQL skills
• Experience with git and git-based workflows
• Experience with GCP or AWS, Looker or other similar BI tools
• Python skills a plus
• dbt experience a plus

• Mastery of SQL and experience with BI reporting tools (i.e. Chart.io, Looker, Periscope) and data warehousing
• Experience thinking through and implementing ELT, along with strong data modeling skills
• Experience partnering with individuals at all levels, in multiple departments
• Strong project and process management with proven ability for planning, scheduling & coordinating
• Self-starter who can come up to speed quickly on our applications, technologies and processes
• Confident presenter and good written skills
• Technical expertise and the ability to question, understand and challenge software implementation decisions and priorities
• Strong interpersonal and team building skills, ability to work with a diverse team and influence change across functional and business boundaries
• Strong project management, planning, and organization skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
