Backend Java Developer

Triggerise builds digital platforms that motivate users - primarily young women and adolescent girls - to make positive choices. For this position, we are open to remote work and will happily accept applicants from any Triggerise Location (Portugal, South Africa, Amsterdam, Kenya, Ethiopia, India).

The Job

You will form an integral part of our Agile tech team who are responsible for creating and maintaining the software that allows our platform to function. You’ll also be responsible for:

  • The maintenance and development of new features on our software platform.
  • Applying the principles of software engineering to the design, development, maintenance, testing and evaluation of our software.
  • Ensuring that the software you develop is secure and safe when it comes to data protection.
  • Working closely with team members, on development and other projects.

About you

You have in-depth development experience using Java and building software from the ground up. You’re a logical thinking and a natural problem solver who wants to use your technical skillset to make an impact.

Requirements:  

  • You hold a minimum of 2 - 6 years of experience in a software development role.
  • You have worked extensively with a number of backend tools and frameworks including Java or Scala.
  • Experience within Micro Services, AWS, and Fraud will be an advantage. 
  • You have the required technical skills & knowledge required to effectively program our software.

Triggerise is a tech-powered, Netherlands-based non-profit operational in 10 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and India. Nudges might include discounts, digital or in-person conversations, follow-ups, reminders, or rewards points that users can redeem in local stores. We also give our users the power to rate their experiences, which provides credibility and allows us to personalise offers. The result? A relevant journey for the user, created around her needs, which simultaneously strengthens local economies How? Using the Triggerise platform. We are a digital platform. Imagine Netflix. But instead of films and tv shows, we aggregate another kind of content - sexual reproductive health solutions - which we provide for people in developing countries and emerging markets. The goal? Motivating healthy behaviour. Our platform includes two kinds of infrastructure: 1) Technology: The websites, apps, SMS, and membership cards that people use to engage with our platform; and 2) Partnerships: Service providers, entrepreneurs, content creators, retailers, wholesalers, and product distributors support us in providing key offerings. The platform reaches all potential users regardless of technology access, proficiency, or even literacy.
