Data Engineer

The role: 
We are looking for a Data Engineer that will work on the processing and analyzing of large datasets using big data tools and frameworks.
The primary focus will be on choosing optimal solutions to use for these purposes, then maintaining, implementing, and monitoring them.

A key responsibility is integrating data with the architecture used across the company, and in particular operationalizing the output from the Data Analysts so that it can be used in the day-to-day processes of the business.

The detail:

Data analysis

  • Identifying, selecting and integrating any big data tools and frameworks required to provide real-time analytics.
  • Provision of data for advanced analytics.
  • Optimize existing data processes through automation.
  • Defining data retention policies.

Data reporting

  • Assist team in resolving data-related support queries.


  • Maintenance and optimization of the analytics data sources.
  • Monitoring performance and advising any necessary infrastructure changes.
  • Assist with all data-related reporting and documentation.


  • Continuous upskilling on new technologies, frameworks and market trends.

Are you this person?

  • Do you have a minimum three years’ applicable work experience in SQL, relational databases and data manipulation?
  • Are you experienced in big data platforms (e.g., Hadoop) or processing frameworks (e.g., MapReduce/Spark) and querying tools (e.g., Pig, Hive and Impala)?
  • Have you worked on these programming languages; JAVA, C# or Python (as a prerequisite), SAS or R (would be advantageous)?
  • Do you have experience with NoSQL databases and/or campaign management tools (advantageous)?
  • Have you completed a Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant field?
