More about this Ozow fantastic position

As a Scrum Master at Ozow you will have an opportunity to impact the delivery of our solutions in a fast-paced and innovative environment. You are primarily responsible for ensuring that the scrum process is upheld, as well as coaching the team on improving impediments.

This is a pivotal role at Ozow, as you will serve as a key liaison between the product owner and development team to ensure requirements are delivered and key milestones are met. You will actively facilitate the management of the product backlog and coordinate with other Scrum Masters to identify and manage cross-team dependencies.

You are an ideal candidate if:

  • Have at least 3 years of experience as an active agile practitioner and coach.
  • Relevant certifications preferred, but experience and aptitude trumps certification.
  • Be involved in the agile community and can demonstrate learnings gained from others.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in applying Lean principles and populate agile frameworks/methods (XP, Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, and others).
  • Experience working with digital work management tools such as JIRA.

Your roles and responsibilities

  • Ensure that the Product Owner is enabled to prioritise and maintain a clear and concise Product Backlog.
  • Ensure that the team understands the necessary information to produce the desired business value.
  • Build productive relationships and follow through on commitments to gain trust and respect.
  • Help the Product Owner understand and practice agility by leveraging empirical data and iterative delivery.
  • Coach the team on Agile and Lean principles to enable iterative delivery of value and reduce waste.
  • Demonstrate servant leadership.
  • Effective facilitation of ceremonies and meetings.
  • Help to remove impediments and facilitate the flow of work.
  • Use the principles of empowerment and self-organization to enable collaboration, effective communication, and decision making across the organisation.
  • Use visual management systems and both leading and lagging metrics to optimise the flow of work.
  • Spearhead continuous improvement across the organisation to reduce waste and increase productivity.

  • Follow-through on commitments. You live up to verbal and written agreements, regardless of personal cost. You are action-oriented.
  • Able to develop A Players. You coach people in their current roles to improve performance and prepare them for future roles.
  • A good communicator. You speak and write clearly and articulately without being overly verbose or talkative. You let others speak and seek to understand their viewpoints.
  • Creative/ innovative. You generate new and innovative approaches to problems.
  • Persuasive. You are able to convince others to pursue a course of action. You are a skilled facilitator and able to resolve conflicts when they occur.
