Software Engineer
Praelexis is a data science and software development company based in Technopark, Stellenbosch. Our goal is to extract practical value from large datasets. Consequently, we apply advanced machine learning algorithms to a variety of real-world industry problems, and turn the algorithms into enterprise-ready software solutions.
We are currently looking for a software engineer. For this position we need an individual with 2 or more years of experience in a software engineering position. This is your chance to join our team that works in a dynamic work environment and loves learning. The position can initially involve consulting at one of our enterprise financial services customers.
Responsibilities:
- Developing enterprise software solutions for data-driven applications
- Code testing and test automation
- Design and implementation of data pipelines
- Software support
- Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, business users, and other engineers
Experience in these technical areas is required:
- Data infrastructure design and implementation
- Data warehousing
- Computer networks
- Productionisation of software
- Software security
- Test driven development and continuous integration
- Web services or microservices
- Agile principles
Experience with the following tools is required:
- Python
- Databricks / Spark
- Docker
- Kubernetes
- Git
- Azure, AWS, or similar cloud infrastructure
Qualifications:
- BScHons in Computer Science,
- BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering (4yr), or
- Other relevant experience and qualifications.
