VP of Commercial (Uganda - Nigeria)

Role

The VP of Commercial plays a pivotal role in the company steering the business verticals across the on-demand platform. The VP of Commercial will report directly to the CEOs and will be crucial in shaping the direction of the company. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Responsible for SafeBoda’s on-demand (food & shop) and payment’s business lines. 
  • Lead the commercial focus - oversee and grow the P&L of the business units.
  • A key member of senior leadership that will steer the direction of the company, reporting directly to the CEOs. 
  • Manage the marketplaces of new products and lead and support teams across a number of areas including delivery services, transport services, financial services, etc.
  • Manage a fast-growing team through leadership that values humility, empathy, growth of our people, and leading by example.
  • Explore and develop pilots for potential new business lines 


You should have:

  • +5 years of experience in consulting, technology, finance, and business development or a similar area
  • Passionate about innovation and new products that will serve millions of people across East and West Africa
  • Previous experience in P&L ownership in a start-up or business 
  • Familiarity with on-demand services, such as e-commerce, food, and grocery delivery
  • Knowledge of growth hacking and understanding how to grow marketplaces is a plus 
  • Significant managerial experience growing and empowering a team
  • Passionate entrepreneurial mindset with proven experience starting and growing projects or enterprises
  • Data-driven decision-making mindset and solid analytical skills with advanced experience in Excel and other data analysis tools 
  • Solid academic performance with at a minimum a completed Bachelor/Undergraduate degree
